WARE — For years, menopause hasvbeen the subject of rumor and myth.vToday, menopause is seen as a perfectly natural part of life. It’s also known that menopause is an easy transition for some and sometimes more difficult for others.

Area women are invited to attend “Menopause: What’s Happening to Me, and Why Is It So Hot in Here,” a women’s health lecture, with guest speaker Dr. Oscar Martinez from Baystate Medical Practices – Mary Lane Ob/Gyn. The event will be held on Feb. 21 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Baystate Mary Lane Hospital in the Main Conference Room, located on the second floor of the hospital.

“Whether you are pre-menopausal or you find yourself in the middle of the change, this seminar will address some common questions and concerns about menopause,” said Tracy Whitley, manager of Loyalty Programs and the Spirit of Women Program.

“Dr. Martinez will discuss menopause myths and fears, including important health screenings, symptoms, treatments, hormone-replacement therapy, nutrition, exercise, stress, sexuality, and alternative treatments,” she continued.

Martinez joins Dr. Mohammed Ahmed, chair of Ob/Gyn services, and Lisa Beaudry, certified nurse midwife, in providing a full range of comprehensive care to women in the many communities served by Baystate Mary Lane Hospital.
