August Babysitter Academy to Be Held at Baystate Mary Lane Hospital

WARE — Baystate Mary Lane Hospital will sponsor a Babysitters Academy in August to ready area youth for fall and winter babysitting responsibilities.

The one-day program will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 4, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The class will be held in the Main Conference Room located on the second floor of the hospital.

The Babysitters Academy is a certified babysitter program for young adults age 11½ to 16. The session offers potential babysitters instruction in baby care, first aid, CPR, fire safety, home security, child behavior, and accident prevention. Participants are given a course booklet containing helpful tips and other information, and will receive a graduation certificate upon completion of the course.


The program is offered by the Parenting program at Baystate Medical Center. There is a $30 fee. Space is limited, and pre-registration is required by calling Baystate Health Link at (413) 967-2488.
