Baystate Franklin Auxiliary Awards Scholarships

GREENFIELD — The Baystate Franklin Auxiliary (formerly the Board of Organized Work) at Baystate Franklin Medical Center has awarded $6,000 in scholarships to nine students who are pursuing health care-related degrees.

The Annie S. Barclay Scholarships are awarded annually in the form of tuition grants to students seeking education in health care from an accredited program of study. Applicants may be BFMC employees, children of BFMC employees, BFMC volunteers, or children or grandchildren of BFA members. Emergency medical technicians and Greenfield Community College Nursing students are also eligible to apply.

Scholarships are funded from invested income, designated gifts, fund-raising projects, and BFA member donations. Selected students were awarded their scholarship checks during a recent reception held at Baystate Franklin Medical Center.

The following students received Annie S. Barclay Scholarships: Jennifer Bassett, Greenfield Community College, Nursing; Melissa Hall, Springfield College, Social Work; Holly Llewelyn, Billing & Coding on Line, Medical Transcription; Heather Loomis, Greenfield Community College, Nursing; Khrystyna Mitchell, Western New England College, Pharmacy; Kate Scanlon, UMass, Nursing; and Sara Smith, Simmons College, Physical Therapy. Two Greenfield Community College students, Laurie Albitz (LPN program) and Gillian Sicard (Nursing), also were awarded scholarships.
