Baystate Franklin Auxiliary Awards Scholarships

GREENFIELD — The Baystate Franklin Auxiliary at Baystate Franklin Medical Center has awarded $10,000 in scholarships to 15 students who are pursuing health care-related degrees. One of these scholarship recipients is a Greenfield Community College nursing student who was selected by the college.

The Annie S. Barclay Scholarships are awarded annually in the form of tuition grants to students seeking education in health care from an accredited program of study. Applicants may be BFMC employees, children of BFMC employees, BFMC volunteers, or children or grandchildren of BFA members. Emergency medical technicians and Greenfield Community College Nursing students are also eligible to apply.

Scholarships are funded from invested income, designated gifts, fund-raising projects, and BFA member donations.

The following students received Annie S. Barclay Scholarships: Sarah Currie, Orange, Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts; Alyssa Gerry, Charlemont, Worcester State University; Holly Llewelyn, Northfield, UMass Amherst; Ashley Manners, Colrain, Springfield College; Calvin McKemmie, Sunderland, Greenfield Community College; Melinda Rose, West Whately, University of Phoenix; Gregory Shelkey, Conway, Hobart & William Smith Colleges; Julia Shelkey, Conway, Penn State College of Medicine; Alyssa Shepherd, Leyden, Mass. College of Liberal Arts; Holly Steward, Ann Arbor, Mich., Michigan State University; Leslie Sunderland, Greenfield, University of New Hampshire; Stephanie Swan, Athol, Walden University; Haley Verheyen, Athol, Springfield College; and Dawn Walsh, South Deerfield; American International College. Also receiving an award was Mandy Duncan, a Nursing student at Greenfield Community College, who was selected by GCC.
