BMLH to Host Babysitter Academy

WARE — Baystate Mary Lane Hospital’s Community Outreach Department, in conjunction with Baystate Medical Center’s Parent Education Department in Springfield, will hold a Babysitters Academy to be held on Saturday, April 17, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and Sunday, April 18, from 1 to 5 p.m. Classes will be held in the Community Health Information Center Conference Room, located on the first floor of the hospital.

Designed for youngsters age 12 to 16, the two four-hour sessions offer potential babysitters instruction in first aid and CPR, child care, what to do in an emergency, and how to feed, rock, hold, and diaper a baby.

Participants are given a course booklet containing helpful tips and other information, and will receive a graduation certificate upon completion of the course. There is a $30 fee to take part in the two-day program. Space is limited.
