Country Bank Sponsors Baystate Mary Lane’s Centennial

WARE — Country Bank has taken the lead in honoring Baystate Mary Lane Hospital’s centennial with a donation of $100,000 to the Campaign for Patient Care. The campaign, established in honor of the hospital’s 100th anniversary, will provide annual funding for programs and services for BMLH patients and their families.

Funds raised through the campaign will help to provide enhanced technology and equipment to better serve patients. Each year, Baystate Mary Lane Hospital’s staff members care for more than 16,500 emergency-room patients, perform more than 200,000 outpatient tests and procedures, and conduct more than 900 surgeries.

“Baystate Mary Lane Hospital effectively touches the lives of people who live and work in our community, standing ready 24 hours-a-day, seven days-a-week to provide care close to home when it is needed,” said Christine Shirtcliff, hospital president. “We have received numerous awards for innovative clinical programming and patient satisfaction in such areas as women and infants, oncology, medical-surgical, and outpatient surgery. Staff expertise, dedication, and attention to detail have driven these achievements and earned the community’s trust.”

Country Bank, which has maintained a relationship with the hospital for 20 years, is posing a “Challenge to the Community” to match this contribution and participate in sustaining the medical services provided close to home. The bank has made cumulative contributions of more than $500,000, funding strategic initiatives throughout the hospital.

“The importance and the luxury of having a health care facility right in our community are immeasurable,” said bank President Paul Scully. “As a business leader I believe that Baystate Mary Lane Hospital makes Ware and the surrounding towns a more desirable place to live and work. Please consider a donation to this worthwhile campaign.”
