Dr. Glen Brooks Offers Latest Self-renewal Options

LONGMEADOWFor Western Mass. and Northern Conn. residents resolving to look and feel their best in 2017, Aesthetic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, P.C., offers the latest in nonsurgical self-renewal treatment options.

“This time of year has many people thinking about self-improvement, which often means a desire to change or enhance their physical appearance,” said board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Glen Brooks, who directs the community-centered cosmetic surgery and noninvasive practice. “Whether someone wants younger looking skin, a firmer figure or permanent hair removal, we can achieve that in ways that are easier, quicker and more effective than ever before.”

One of the most popular areas of cosmetic practice today is laser skin rejuvenation, which includes procedures to improve skin texture, resolve facial redness (from rosacea, enlarged blood vessels or hemangiomas), remove uneven pigmentation and discolorations, and erase acne scars and wrinkles. Dr. Brooks, along with Leah Kenney, PA-C, and Julia Boucher, PA-C, use the revolutionary Sciton® laser for many of these procedures. Recovery can range from an immediate return to normal activities to a few days’ recovery for the more aggressive treatments. For an even more impressive skin renewal, the providers said, many patients combine their laser skin treatments with BOTOX® Cosmetic, a dermal filler or Kybella®, a popular new treatment for eliminating a double chin.

For those seeking freedom from shaving, tweezing and waxing, the Longmeadow practice offers complimentary consultations with trained laser hair technicians. “They will meet with you to go over the number of treatments you can expect, the cost of each treatment and other key information,” said Kenney, adding that both men and women benefit from laser hair removal for permanently smooth skin.

“Stubborn fat” is another problem Dr. Brooks said commonly brings patients to his office. When neither daily crunches nor a diet of crunchy vegetables has done the trick, he said, there is a “cool” new technique that can help: CoolSculpting®. “CoolSculpting uses precise, targeted cooling outside the body to kill fat cells while protecting surrounding tissues,” Dr. Brooks said of the innovative procedure. “Many patients choose this alternative to liposuction, because it requires nearly no recovery time and very minimal discomfort.”

The newest addition to the practice’s noninvasive offerings is the Exilis Ultra® device. In less than an hour, patients can enjoy skin tightening and fat reduction of the face and body with no downtime. Most patients benefit for two to four treatments, and the staff at Dr. Brooks’ office often combine the treatment with CoolSculpting or Kybella.
