Dr. Savitri Rambissoon Joins BMP – Greenfield Surgery

GREENFIELD — Dr. Savitri Rambissoon recently joined Baystate Medical Practices – Greenfield Surgery.

A magna cum laude graduate of American University with a bachelor’s degree in biology, Rambissoon completed her medical degree at McGill University Medical School in Montreal. She completed her residency in general surgery at Baystate Medical Center and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons.

“I had five wonderful years of training at Baystate Medical Center, where I gained invaluable experience and was able to deepen my knowledge of surgical procedures,” she said of her return to Western Mass.

For the past several years, Rambissoon has been practicing in the Laconia, N.H. area. “In 2003, I moved to the Lakes Region of New Hampshire, where I enjoyed a practice of doing a broad scope of surgery and endoscopy helping the local communities.”

Passionate about her medical field, she specializes in performing laparoscopic surgeries for emergencies, such as gallbladders and appendixes, and bowel cases for colon cancers and diverticulitis.

She understands the discomfort and anxiety that may plague patients regarding surgical procedures and diagnoses. “Being a female surgeon, I have the ability to make some women feel a little more comfortable, especially when helping them deal with a new diagnosis of a breast lump or cancer and also providing the opportunity to have their colonoscopies done by another female.”

She added, “I look forward to having the opportunity to meet with local patients in order to discuss any of their concerns regarding surgical issues where I may be of help.”
