FMC Is Phasing Out Home Care Services

GREENFIELD — The administration of Franklin Medical Cenhter (FMC) announced recently that home care services will no longer be provided by the center after Friday, April 14.

“Due to declining reimbursements from governmental payers and insurance companies over the past several years, Franklin Medical Center is focusing its resources on the core medical services provided by the hospital,” said FMC President Michael D. Skinner.

To ensure that their patients continue to receive the care they ned, FMC’s Visiting Nurse Assoc. & Hospice will be working closely with patients and families over the next several weeks to transition them to other home providers.

“We are committed to providing seamless, uninterrupted quality care for patients as we help them find other options,” said Skinner. “We will accomplish this by working closely with our patients and their families until we are sure their needs are met.”

The closure in April will affect the 63 positions at FMC’s Visiting Nurse Assoc. and Hospice department. Efforts are underway by the Human Resources Department at FMC to find positions within the organization for those who have been displaced.

“We deeply regret that employees will be affected by these changes,” said Skinner. “This difficult decision was made for the sake of future financial strength of our hospital so that we may continue to provide other services that benefit all residents of our communities.”
