George Joins BFMC as Volunteer Services Manager

GREENFIELD — Becky George has joined the staff at Baystate Franklin Medical Center as manager of Volunteer Services.
A graduate of North Adams State College with a bachelor’s degree in sociology, George also received an MBA from UMass Amherst.
George comes to Baystate Franklin with a variety of experiences in higher education and volunteerism.  She served as the admissions director for a variety of higher-education institutions in New England, including Franklin Pierce College, Albertus Magnus College, and the School for International Training. She was also appointed special projects coordinator for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Franklin County, where she interviewed candidates for matching interests and assisted the executive director with other projects.
In 2006, George became the events manager for the Franklin County Chamber of Commerce in Greenfield. There, she directed Greenfield Business Assoc. programs and coordinated community events, such as the Green River Festival and Cider Days. In 2010, George was appointed coordinator for the Fostering Art and Culture Project in Greenfield, where she continues to serve, designing local and regional art conferences and networking events.
Her passion for community involvement continues through her extensive participation in volunteer work. She has been a member of the GCC Foundation fund-raising team, the Greenfield Parking and Traffic Commission, and the Women’s Fund Grant Committee. She also served as the chair for the Greenfield Cultural Council.
“I’m looking forward to being able to support such a wonderful and dedicated group of volunteers here at Baystate Franklin and to get even more people involved in volunteerism here,” George said. “I’ve come to love and appreciate the breadth and depth of this community, and am excited to be able to continue to be involved in a new way.”
