HNE To Offer Discounts On Seniorlink Eldercare Benefits

SPRINGFIELD — Health New England (HNE) has arranged to provide its members with discounted access to Seniorlink eldercare services. Seniorlink is a leading provider of eldercare management, including services to help older adults maintain their independence.
The new services address a growing problem for area businesses and their employees. Nearly 25{06cf2b9696b159f874511d23dbc893eb1ac83014175ed30550cfff22781411e5} of all workers provide care for someone over age 65, and individuals over 85 are the fastest-growing segment of the population.

The magnitude of the caregiving challenge has a major impact on businesses. It has been estimated that employers lose $29 billion in productivity each year due to absenteeism and workday interruptions caused by caregiving responsibilities and replacement costs for those employees who leave the workforce to care for a senior.

The benefits became available Aug. 1 to all HNE subscribers and their spouses, and to their parents or grandparents (even if those individuals are not HNE members). An average member receiving 20 hours of service will save more than $800 on Seniorlink management services.

The new benefits include:
• 50{06cf2b9696b159f874511d23dbc893eb1ac83014175ed30550cfff22781411e5} off Seniorlink’s care management assessment. A comprehensive, in-home assessment identifies potential risks to a senior’s safety and quality of life and provides families initial recommendations for care.
• 25{06cf2b9696b159f874511d23dbc893eb1ac83014175ed30550cfff22781411e5} off all Seniorlink care management services. Seniorlink coordinates services, ranging from personal care to health care management, designed to help seniors maintain their independence.
• Free installation of Lifeline Systems personal emergency response system and a free two-month trial. Lifeline Systems provides reassurance and peace of mind to people who live alone, fear isolation, or have the potential need for emergency response.
