MHA Announces New Officers

BOSTON — Mount Auburn Hospital President and CEO Jeanette Clough was recently named the 64th chair of the Mass. Hospital Assoc.

In her inaugural speech, she praised initiatives to safeguard patients and promised an even more intense focus on hospital safety during the year ahead. “We should continue to acknowledge that taking the lead on patient safety is not only our responsibility, but in our best interest as community institutions,” said Clough, with an emphasis on the word community. Under her stewardship, Mount Auburn has received national recognition for its patient-safety efforts.

Clough heads a slate of new MHA officers. All will serve one-year terms:

• Chair Elect (designated successor to Clough): David M. Barrett, M.D., CEO of Lahey Clinic Hospital, Burlington;
• Treasurer: Dan Moen, president and CEO of Heywood Hospital, Gardner; and
• Secretary: Robert G. Norton, CHE, president and CEO if North Shore Medical Center in Salem.

Clough succeeds Thomas Porter, president and CEO of Morton Hospital and Medical Center in Taunton, as chair. As immediate past chairman, he retains a seat on the board.
