Thayercare Marks One-year Anniversary

WARE — Thayercare at Ware, which offers a day activities program for elderly and disabled persons, will celebrate the one-year anniversary of its 40 Chestnut St. location with an open house on Friday, Oct. 5 from noon to 4 p.m.

Sen. Stephen Brewer, D-Barre, will be on hand to meet visitors from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. A light lunch will be served. Attendees will have an opportunity to meet with staff and visit clients in their “home-away-from-home setting,” said Betty Thayer, a registered nurse and director of Thayercare, which also has a location at 49 Middle St. in Hadley.

“This will be a great opportunity for family and other loved ones to see how far we have come in a year,” Thayer said.

Services at Thayercare include assistance with activities of daily living, nursing supervision, and an activity program that is adapted to the needs and abilities of participants.

By meeting clients’ physical, social, and emotional needs during the day, Thayer said, Thayercare enables them to continue living at home, either independently or with family, while creating the ability for family members to continue working.
