Therapist Assistant At Mercy Honored

SPRINGFIELD — Susan McAvoy, a staff physical therapist assistant and clinical instructor at Mercy Medical Center in Springfield, was recently honored with the 2002 Clinical Faculty Award by the Physical Therapist Assistant Consortium of New England.

 

The award recognizes physical therapy clinicians who have improved the quality of clinical education of physical therapist assistant (PTA) students in New England through excellence, innovation, and in clinical teaching and student mentoring.

The award was presented by Meg Woble-Valenski, ACCE, faculty member at Springfield Technical Community College (STCC), and Linda Desmarais, director of the PTA program at STCC.

McAvoy is a graduate of the PTA program at STCC, where she also holds as advisory board position. She is an American Physical Therapy Assoc.-accredited clinical instructor and has served as an alternate assembly representative for the Massachusetts chapter of the PTA.
