Walden Behavioral Care Plans Open House at Amherst Clinic on May 21

AMHERST — Walden Behavioral Care, a leading clinic for treating eating disorders, will host an open house at its new clinic at 100 University Dr., Amherst, on Thursday, May 21 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.

Walden is the only clinic in the area specializing in the treatment of eating disorders. About 24 million Americans have eating disorders, yet only about 10{06cf2b9696b159f874511d23dbc893eb1ac83014175ed30550cfff22781411e5} of those individuals seek and receive treatment. Eating disorders have the highest mortality rate of any psychiatric illness, and a majority of individuals with eating disorders also suffer from depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, or other disorders. The incidence of substance abuse is also much higher than in the general population.

Tours of the new 6,000-square-foot Amherst clinic will be provided at the open house. President and CEO Stuart Koman will speak and will be available for interviews.

Walden Behavioral Care, LLC, based in Waltham, is a private psychiatric hospital that treats eating disorders and psychiatric disorders.
