Walden Planning Seminar on Binge-eating Disorder

NORTHAMPTON — Walden Behavioral Care, LLC, one of the country’s leading hospitals for treating eating disorders, announced today that it will sponsor a half-day seminar on binge-eating disorder from 8 a.m. to noon on Thursday, Feb. 9 at the Hotel Northampton.

Speakers will include Dr. Christina Wood Baker, a behavioral health specialist, who will discuss “The Basics of BED for Clinicians: What Is It and How Do I Assess and Treat It?” beginning at 9 a.m., and Kelly Stellato, a registered dietitian and licensed nutritionist at Walden, who will discuss “Binge-Eating Disorder: Nutrition Therapy,” beginning at 11 a.m.

Binge-eating disorder is the most common eating disorder, affecting approximately 2 million Americans, according to the National Institute of Mental Health. The institute found that one in five young women report that they have had binge-eating problems, while men account for about 40{06cf2b9696b159f874511d23dbc893eb1ac83014175ed30550cfff22781411e5} of binge-eating disorder cases.
