West Brookfield Senior Center to Host Stroke Program

WEST BROOKFIELD — The public is invited to attend “The Power of Prevention,” a stroke-awareness program to be held on Thursday, Feb. 11, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the West Brookfield Senior Center, located at 73 Central St.

“Certain risk factors increase your chance of having a stroke, but many are within your ability to control, change, or work together with your doctor to treat,” said Tina Frazier, nurse manager at Baystate Mary Lane Hospital. “At this program, community members can learn more about ways to decrease their risk for developing a stroke.”

Medical professionals from the hospital will join Frazier as they present information about exercise, diet, and nutrition and how making lifestyle changes can not only improve health and wellness, but also reduce the risk for stroke. A personalized stroke risk-factor test and blood-pressure measurement will be included. Light refreshments will be served. Registration is required by calling Baystate Health Link at (413) 967-2488 or (800) 377-4325.
