In 2000, the publishers of BusinessWest maga- zine introduced a new concept — a publication devoted entirely to the region’s large and very important healthcare sector. It would be called Healthcare News of Western Mass.
The website will now be the primary vehicle for providing timely stories, news, updates, pho- tographs, and opinion concerning the health- care sector and the healthcare issues impacting everyone across our region and beyond.
Notes, it will provide subscribers with informa- tion they need to know about healthcare from within and outside Western Mass.
For 23 years, this publication has been a one-stop shop, if you will, for important informa- tion about this vital, growing sector, focusing
on trends, people, institutions, and change. Over time, the understanding that healthcare is sought beyond state borders led to dropping “of Western Mass.,” and the magazine became known as Healthcare News, or HCN for short.
The specialty publications will include the an- nual Resource Guide, an invaluable regional tool that lists healthcare businesses and institutions across dozens of categories, from colleges to dental practices to acute-care hospitals. They will also include the annual Senior Planning Guide, another important publication for helping indi- viduals and families understand and navigate the many issues involved with planning for one’s
