AdCare to Host Virtual Narcan Training on Aug. 25
WORCESTER — AdCare will host a free, virtual training on how to administer the overdose-reversing drug naloxone, or Narcan, on Tuesday, Aug. 25 at 4 p.m.
The AdCare Narcan training and educational session will be presented by Keith Barnaby, harm-reduction specialist with AIDS Project Worcester, and is open to anyone interested in knowing how to use Narcan to reverse an overdose and potentially save a life.
The U.S. Surgeon General urges more individuals, including family, friends, and those who are personally at risk for an opioid overdose, to keep the potentially lifesaving medication on hand.
Participants can join the training from a computer, tablet, or smartphone at global.gotomeeting.com/join/497317469 or dial by phone at (408) 650-3123 (access code: 497-317-469).
The training is being held in honor of International Overdose Awareness Day (Aug. 31), an opportunity to remember those lost to overdose and underscore the message that overdose death is preventable and more must be done to save lives.
