American Medical Response COVID-19 Testing Site to Remain Open Today
SPRINGFIELD — American Medical Response (AMR), the city of Springfield’s provider of medical transportation, announced, in collaboration with Mayor Domenic Sarno’s office and Health and Human Services Commissioner Helen Caulton-Harris, that the daily Stop the Spread COVID-19 testing site at the Eastfield Mall will remain open today, Jan. 7, until 3 p.m.
As coronavirus cases continue to climb, AMR, along with Sarno’s office, believes it is in the best interest of the public to keep the testing site open for normal business hours on Friday, but reminds the public to prepare for winter weather if venturing out.
No appointments are necessary; however, AMR strongly encourages registering in advance to facilitate faster testing. Testing is available on a drive-through basis only at 1655 Boston Road, Springfield, between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. on weekdays and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekends.
Stop the Spread is a statewide strategic testing program in communities across Massachusetts that has continued to see a higher number of residents testing positive for COVID-19. Nearly 1,000 people are being tested daily at the AMR site on Boston Road. AMR has administered more than 300,000 tests since the site opened at the beginning of the pandemic.
