American Red Cross Honors Local Heroes
SPRINGFIELD — Pioneer Valley of the American Red Cross honored 12 area residents at its Fourth Annual Hometown Heroes Breakfast at The Basketball Hall of Fame on March 29.
Local heroes were; Jonathan Smylie of Longmeadow; Linda Levere, Bob Kamm, John McCormack, Michael Burns all of Westfield; Al Murray of Ware; 6-year-old Caileen Dollard of Agawam; Francisco Rodriguez of Holyoke; Brian Kennedy of Belchertown; Chief Peter Hatch (representing the Hampden Volunteer Fire Department); and from the AIC campus security, Police Lt. Darrell Nichols and Officer Mike Powers.
The Hometown Heroes Breakfast was originally created by the Pioneer Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross to remember the heroes of September 11, 2001 and to celebrate the spirit of humanitarianism by honoring local individuals who have shown courage, kindness, and unselfish character through their own acts of heroism here in the greater Springfield community.
