AMR Springfield Earns Elite National Accreditation
SPRINGFIELD — Springfield’s leading ambulance provider, American Medical Response (AMR), has earned the prestigious Commission on Accreditation of Ambulance Services (CAAS) designation. AMR Springfield is the only ambulance provider in Western Mass., and one of only three in the state, to currently hold this accreditation.
CAAS accreditation is a critical quality-control measure ensuring that AMR consistently meets or exceeds the highest industry standards and community expectations. The rigorous accreditation process is essential for Springfield residents, who rely on AMR for prompt response, safe patient handling, medical expertise, ongoing education, and well-maintained equipment and vehicles. AMR’s policies and record-keeping demonstrate its commitment to operating at the highest level of standards in emergency care, from call intake to resource deployment.
The Commission awards CAAS accreditation to organizations that demonstrate excellence in organizational performance and efficiency, clinical quality, and decreased risk and liability during a year-long audit process. This accreditation is considered essential for modern emergency medical services by the ambulance industry.
“Earning CAAS accreditation isn’t just about meeting requirements — it’s about demonstrating an unwavering commitment to the people we serve,” said Kim D’Angelo, Operations manager for AMR of Western Massachusetts. “This recognition validates that our teams are ready to respond at a moment’s notice to any challenge that our community may face and that we are appropriately addressing each standard of care from the ground up, every single day. Our emergency providers serving the city of Springfield consistently deliver superior care. We take immense pride in their commitment to professional growth and their dedication to our community.”
CAAS is an independent review that ensures that accredited agencies are adhering to the highest standards of EMS in the industry.
AMR Springfield has now earned accreditation from all three major accreditation agencies, including CAAS, the Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Services, and the Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the Emergency Medical Services Professions.
