Atrium at Cardinal Drive Announces Details of Caregiver Support Group
AGAWAM — The new year brings a new time and new location for the Atrium at Cardinal Drive’s monthly caregiver support group.
The Atrium at Cardinal Drive has been facilitating a monthly caregiver support group through the Alzheimer’s Assoc. for several years at its assisted-living community, but in 2019, the Atrium has partnered with the Agawam Senior Center. The caregiver support group is held the first Thursday of the month at 5 p.m. at the Agawam Senior Center, located at 954 Main St., Agawam. The next session is on Thursday, March 7. The public is welcome to attend. RSVP to the Atrium at Cardinal Drive at (413) 821-9911 if you are interested in attending.
A support group provides an opportunity for families and caregivers to learn more about Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias and receive tips on ways to cope. Attendees will be part of educational discussions and have the opportunity to learn and share with others who understand. All caregivers caring for a loved one with memory loss are welcome to attend the support group to share their experiences, ask for advice, find out about local resources, and understand they are not alone in this journey.
“We feel as though this central location [Agawam Senior Center] will enable us to welcome more of the community to attend our monthly support group, share their stories, and bond with other caregivers who may be in similar situations. We want to be a resource for caregivers in the community,” said Amelia Pitoniak, Atrium at Cardinal Drive memory care director and support group facilitator.
The Atrium at Cardinal Drive is an assisted-living community exclusively dedicated to individuals with memory loss.
