Auxiliary Reopens Gift Shop at Baystate Wing Hospital
PALMER — The Baystate Wing Hospital gift shop has reopened its doors for the first time since COVID-19 precautions temporarily paused operations. The gift shop hours are Monday and Wednesday 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with additional days planned for the near future.
“We are delighted to be open and welcome all to stop in and find that treat for themselves or a special unique gift item for a friend or loved one,” said Evelyn Glabicky, gift shop manager. “Please be patient with us as we work to provide everyone a great shopping experience with new processes and hospital policies developed with the utmost safety of all our patrons in mind. You may not see it, but we are smiling behind our masks and we’ve missed being here for you.”
For more than 65 years, the auxiliary has been actively supporting Baystate Wing Hospital through its generous donations made possible by gift shop sales and their various other fundraising efforts. This diverse group of women and men include teachers, nurses, business owners, both young and retirees, who live in many different communities and are united by a shared commitment to support the mission of the hospital.
Volunteers are currently being sought to fill positions in various departments at Baystate Wing, including the hospital Gift Shop, as greeters, and in patient-care areas. Duties will vary depending on the assigned department. Volunteers are assigned to a department/area according to their interests and needs of the hospital.
