Baystate Blood Donor Mobile Welcomes Businesses and Organizations Seeking To Hold Blood Drives

SPRINGFIELD Baystate Health continues to serve the blood needs of the community with its traveling bloodmobile. Any organization or business looking to host the Baystate Health Blood Donor Mobile can call Amy Osgood at (413) 322-4125.

Blood donations can also be made at Baystate’s Blood Donor Center located on the first floor of the hospital’s Daly Building. Hours are Monday from 8 a.m. to noon; Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from noon to 8 p.m.; Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and Sunday from 

8 a.m. to noon.

In order to donate blood, you must be at least 17 years old, in good health, weigh at least 110 lbs., and have a photo ID. Donors are able to give blood every eight weeks.

At the Baystate Blood Donor Program, collecting platelets is also vital to patient care. In order to donate platelets, you must also be at least 17 year old, in good health, weigh at least 110 lbs., and have a photo ID. Donors are able to give platelets every two weeks. Baystate’s program collects platelets through a single sterile needle. Donating platelets takes about 1-2 hours.

At Baystate Health, 100% of all blood and platelet donations made to its Blood Donor Program are used locally in western Massachusetts.
