Baystate Emeritus Club Receives National Award
SPRINGFIELD — Baystate Medical Center and the Baystate Medical Center Emeritus Club have received the 2004 Distinguished Achievement Award from the Catalyst Institute for Innovation and Excellence.
The institute is a national organization representing senior membership programs at more than 250 hospitals in 42 states. Based in Northbrook, Ill., it was created to identify and reward state-of-the-art, senior-focused initiatives. It judges programs against four criteria: ingenuity, practicality, cost-efficiency, and ability to be replicated.
The Emeritus Club is a program for retired and honorary physicians at Baystate Medical Center. The program, launched in October 2001, engages and informs retired medical staff about program and service enhancements at the medical center, and extends a number of privileges afforded to the physicians when they were active members of medical staff. The club, which meets semiannually at the medical center, has grown to 92 members.
