Baystate Health Appoints Clara Guixa Chief Information and Digital Officer
SPRINGFIELD — Baystate Health announced that Clara Guixa has been appointed chief information and digital officer (CIO) effective June 2.
In her role as CIO, Guixa will serve as the strategic and operational information and technology leader for the health system and affiliate entities. This position is essential to Baystate Health in driving a comprehensive, innovative IT agenda across a complex operating organization. She will use her strong strategic and transformational skills to drive a comprehensive, innovative IT agenda for Baystate Health.

Guixa brings more than 25 years of experience in healthcare IT and technology management, with a specialized understanding of organization-wide technology investments, platform roadmaps, and facilitating and developing data governance strategies. She joins Baystate Health from Boston Children’s Hospital, a nationally ranked acute care children’s hospital and the main pediatric program of Harvard Medical School, where she served as vice president of Applications and deputy chief information officer.
She earned a bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering from the Milwaukee School of Engineering and has completed an executive program for emerging leadership at the University of Chicago Booth.
Guixa’s decades of progressive leadership roles within academic healthcare systems, including University of Chicago Medicine and the University of Illinois at Chicago, are expected to guide Baystate Health in using information and technology to engage consumers, optimize and transform health system operations, and deliver high-quality, high-value care.
