Baystate Health Lifts Illness-related Changes in Visitor Policy
SPRINGFIELD — With flu and other viral respiratory illness activity decreasing locally and across the U.S., Baystate Health has lifted changes implemented in its visitor policy in September to protect patients, visitors, and team members against viral infections, including flu.
Baystate Health will now resume its normal visitor policy, which allows open visiting hours at the convenience and comfort of patients and their caregivers. As always, there may be some limitations on visitors depending on the patient’s condition and needs. Friends and family who are ill with cold, flu, diarrheal illness, or fever should call instead of visiting patients in the hospital.
The health system’s four hospitals affected by the change in visitation rules included Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Baystate Franklin Medical Center in Greenfield, Baystate Mary Lane Hospital in Ware, and Baystate Wing Hospital in Palmer, as well as various outpatient facilities.
