Baystate Health Welcomes Nick Scutella as VP of HR Operations and Total Rewards

SPRINGFIELD — Baystate Health announced the appointment of Nick Scutella as vice president of HR Operations and Total Rewards, effective Aug. 11.

In this role, Scutella will lead efforts to advance Baystate Health’s Total Rewards strategy, ensuring a competitive, equitable, and future-focused approach to compensation, benefits, and workforce programs. His work will focus on supporting an exceptional employee experience while positioning Baystate Health as a destination for top talent.

Scutella brings more than 16 years of experience spanning healthcare, manufacturing, and energy. Most recently, he served as director of HR Operations at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, where he partnered closely with the chief Human Resources officer on enterprise-wide HR initiatives. Prior to that, he held leadership roles at Amphenol and Highmark Health, driving workforce optimization efforts, implementing large-scale financial and operational models, and leading cross-functional teams.

At Baystate, Scutella will collaborate with leaders across the organization to integrate operational excellence with innovative workforce solutions. His goal is to ensure that Baystate’s ‘total rewards’ philosophy not only meets the needs of today’s workforce, but also anticipates the expectations of tomorrow.

Scutella earned an MBA in finance and operations from the University of Pittsburgh’s Katz Graduate School of Business and a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from the University of Pittsburgh.
