Baystate Mason Square Neighborhood Health Center to Hold Free Men’s Health Awareness Day
SPRINGFIELD — Did you know that two-thirds of men avoid booking appointments with their primary-care provider, and when they finally do see their doctor, they often keep important health information to themselves because they are afraid what their symptoms might reveal?
It’s Men’s Health Awareness Day at Baystate Mason Square Neighborhood Health Center on Thursday, April 25, designed to put men in the know about their current health and how they can lead a healthier lifestyle.
The free educational and informational event — held from 4 to 6 p.m. — will feature a talk by preventive cardiologist Dr. Quinn Pack and a light dinner.
“Baystate Health invites you to join your community in learning more about simple and practical things you can do to lower your risk of heart disease, heart attack, and stroke,” Pack said. “All are welcome, and we encourage you to bring your brothers, dads, sons, and friends.”
Men’s Health Awareness Day is presented by Baystate Health and Baystate Mason Square Neighborhood Health Center and Community Advisory Board in partnership with UMass Amherst Center for Community Health Equity Research, Men of Color Health Awareness, Holy Trinity COGIC, and Shiloh Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Baystate Mason Square Neighborhood Health Center is located at 11 Wilbraham Road in Springfield.
