Baystate Medical Center Ranked Among Top 10 Hospitals in Massachusetts

SPRINGFIELD — Baystate Medical Center ranks among Massachusetts’s top 10 hospitals for the 2024-25 ranking year, according to U.S. News and World Report.

Baystate Medical Center was ranked first in the Springfield area and seventh among the 104 hospitals in the state.

“We are honored to have Baystate Medical Center ranked in the top 10 hospitals in a state with some of the best medical care in the country,” said Sam Skura, president of Baystate Medical Center and senior vice president of Hospital Operation for Baystate Health. “This placement is a result of the hard work and dedication of our team. We are proud of our work and continue our commitment to top-quality patient care.”

The U.S. News Best Hospitals rankings rely on clinical data and an annual survey of specialists. The rankings methodology factors in objective measures such as risk-adjusted survival, discharge-to-home rates, patient volume, and nursing quality. Patient outcomes, clinical services and processes, compliance with best practices, and patient experience are also considered.

U.S. News evaluated nearly 5,000 hospitals across 15 specialties and 20 procedures and conditions; only 11% of evaluated hospitals earned a Best Hospitals ranking.

In addition to making the U.S. News Best Regional Hospitals rankings, Baystate Medical Center earned High Performance scores in 11 common adult procedures/conditions: chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, pneumonia, abdominal aortic aneurysm repair, heart attack, aortic valve surgery, heart bypass surgery, heart failure, transcatheter aortic valve replacement, kidney failure, knee replacement, and hip replacement.
