Baystate Noble Hospital Offering Free Hands-only CPR Training

WESTFIELD — Baystate Noble Hospital is offering the Greater Westfield community life-saving training so that they can be prepared to save the life of someone they know or to increase the likelihood of performing CPR in an emergency. According to the American Heart Assoc., 70% of Americans feel helpless to act during a cardiac emergency because they don’t know how to administer CPR or they’re afraid of hurting the victim.

Baystate Noble Hospital’s Education team will train participants in hands-only CPR, which is a simplified approach that focuses on chest compressions instead of rescue breaths, which can help people feel more comfortable performing CPR. Baystate Noble will offer the free hands-only CPR training on Thursday, Nov. 21 from 5 to 7 p.m. in Conference Room A, located on the ground floor of Baystate Noble Hospital. The training will include CPR for infants, pediatrics, and adults.

The American Heart Assoc. indicates about 90% of people who suffer out-of-hospital cardiac arrests die. Hands-only CPR is an easy, effective way for any bystander, especially if they act immediately, to double or triple a cardiac-arrest victim’s chance of survival.

Seats are limited. RSVP to Tracy Marshuk at tracy.marshuk@baystatehealth.org to reserve a spot. Anyone interested in obtaining a CPR card can reach out to Elizabeth Goncalves at elizabeth.goncalves@baystatehealth.org for additional information.
