Baystate Rehabilitation Care Moves Into New, More Modern New Quarters

SPRINGFIELD — Baystate Rehabili-tation Care’s Adult Rehabilitation Services has moved into a modern, patient friendly, warm facility, located in Springfield’s North End neighborhood. The new home is located at 360 Birnie Ave.

According to Jim Maloney, program manager for Adult Rehabilitation Services, the new facility offers the best of both worlds for patients; it provides private, one-on-one treatment, along with open space for patients to motivate each other, and even form some comradery during their rehabilitation, should they choose.

The 10,000-square-foot facility features eight private treatment areas for physical and occupational therapy, two private areas for speech therapy, and one for audiology therapy. Men’s and women’s locker rooms are available for patient use. There is also a multi-purpose room that can be used for small aerobics classes, community programs, and other initiatives.

“The Neurologic Rehabilitation Gym that we can offer to our patients here is an intimate setting for our physical and occupational therapists to provide the level of care needed for our patients,” said Maloney. The neurologic gym is for patients with a variety of neurologic conditions to include multiple sclerosis, stroke, spinal cord injury, post-polio, Parkinson’s, and more.

The new facility features the latest equipment including treadmills, elliptical trainers, upper body bicycle, and more.

“Our staff consists of eight physical therapists, two occupational therapists, two speech pathologists, and one audiologist,” said Maloney. “The skill-set of our staff members, their ability to partner with primary care physicians, along with one of the finest multi-disciplinary facilities in Western Mass., will serve our patients well here.”

The facility is open for patient care Monday through Thursday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Fridays, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. The free parking lot is well-lit, and the facility is on the PVTA bus route.
