Baystate Vein Center – Greenfield Earns Accreditation

GREENFIELD — Baystate Vein Center – Greenfield has been granted accreditation in superficial venous treatment and management by the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC).

Accreditation by the IAC means a facility has voluntarily undergone a thorough review of its operational and technical components by a panel of experts. These experts review the training and experience of the vein specialists performing the procedure, the type of equipment used, and quality-assessment metrics. The IAC grants accreditation only to those facilities that are found to be providing quality patient care, in compliance with national standards, through a comprehensive application process including a detailed review of selected patient procedures.

“Our IAC accreditation means that our patients can be assured that our processes and procedures are up to the standards set by medical experts in the field of treatment and management of superficial venous disorders,” said Kristyn Neal, manager, Northern Region Cardiovascular Ambulatory Services. “Our clinical team works hard to maintain the highest quality of care, and we are all very proud to have earned this accreditation.”

More than one half of Americans age 50 and older are affected by varicose veins. These occur when the valves in the leg veins no longer functions, causing blood to pool in the legs. In some cases, the condition progresses to a more serious form of venous disease called chronic venous insufficiency.
