Baystate Wing Hospital Emergency Department Recognized for Excellence
PALMER — Baystate Wing Hospital’s Emergency Department has been selected as a recipient of the 2025 Emergency Nurses Assoc. (ENA) Lantern Award, which recognizes leadership, practice, education, and advocacy that results in improved patient care and staff well-being.
“These recipients demonstrate excellence in practice, interdisciplinary collaboration, and innovation that make their departments exceptional places for patients receiving care as well as for the staff working in them,” ENA President Ryan Oglesby said.
Fewer than 100 emergency departments were selected this year. The application included facility- and unit-based demographic information, including a collection of 38 exemplars and essays. Each essay submitted showcased process improvement projects implemented in the Emergency Department using a shared governance model, highlighting a strong focus on enhancing healthcare processes and outcomes through collaborative decision making. The stories highlighted the Emergency Department team’s accomplishments, which continue to improve patient outcomes and workplace safety, and embrace a healthy workplace environment culture.
“We are incredibly proud that Baystate Wing Hospital’s Emergency Department has been selected as a recipient of the 2025 Emergency Nurses Association Lantern Award. This recognition supports that the emergency services we provide to our community exceed the highest standards and establishes benchmarks for quality, effectiveness, and patient safety,” said Lori Reed Puff, the hospital’s chief Nursing officer. “This team excels in clinical practice, teamwork, and a shared purpose, continuously improving the health of the people in our communities with both quality and compassion.”
Baystate Wing Hospital’s Lantern Award will be on display in the Emergency Department. As a recipient, Baystate Wing Hospital will be recognized in upcoming ENA publications, on the ENA website, and during Emergency Nursing 2025, the association’s annual conference in New Orleans on Sept. 17-20.
