Baystate Wing Hospital Employees Donate School Supplies
PALMER — Just before the start of the new school year, teachers from Ware Public Schools, Palmer Public Schools, and Quaboag Regional High School were gifted with hundreds of back-to-school items donated by employees across departments at Baystate Wing Hospital. The supplies were the results of the employees’ annual adopt-a-classroom initiative. They included folders, spiral notebooks, pens, pencils, glue sticks, Post-it Notes, calculators, disinfectant wipes, crayons, and more.
Studies consistently show that preparedness plays a pivotal role in a student’s ability to excel in school. When equipped with the right tools, students are more engaged, focused, and confident in the classroom.
“Thanks to the generosity of our hospital team members, we were able to help local schools by putting these tools into the hands of our teachers and students who need them to succeed,” said Karli Barrett, vice president of Patient Care Services and chief Nursing officer for Baystate Wing Hospital. “It was wonderful to experience the enthusiasm of our team as they supported our annual back-to-school supply drive. I am proud to work with so many compassionate and generous caregivers who care about our communities and want to ensure that local children get a fair chance at education and academic success.”
Added Megan Sears, assistant principal at Ware Middle School, “we couldn’t do it without the help of our community partners, and we are grateful for the Baystate Wing team’s back-to-school donations.”
