Behavioral Health Network Announces Changes to Executive Leadership Team

SPRINGFIELD — Behavioral Health Network Inc. (BHN) announced new appointments and promotions to its executive leadership team: Lisa Yin, assistant vice president of Addiction and Recovery Services; Jessica DeFlumer, chief operating officer; and Toni Hendrix, senior vice president of Human Resources.

Yin has been with BHN for more than six years, initially hired in 2018 as program director of Franklin Recovery Center and then promoted to senior program manager in 2020. As assistant vice president, she will oversee all 400 substance-use-disorder residential treatment beds in programs located throughout Franklin, Hampden, and Suffolk counties.

Prior to her employment at BHN, Yin worked as a Behavioral Health navigator at Athol Memorial Hospital, clinical supervisor of Crisis Services at Clinical & Support Options, and psychiatric technician at Cheshire Medical Center. She served in the U.S. Peace Corps for two years as a community health educator in Cambodia. She holds a master’s degree in international disaster psychology from the University of Denver Graduate School of Professional Psychology and is a licensed mental-health counselor.

DeFlumer has served BHN in various leadership roles since her hire in 2017 as the senior program manager for Population Health. Her responsibilities have grown steadily in her time at BHN, taking on a vice president role in 2019, senior vice president in 2020, and executive vice president in 2021.

During her more than 20 years in the field, her roles have ranged from the provision of direct care as both a case manager and a clinician to leadership roles that have overseen residential, clinical, and administrative teams in various nonprofit behavioral-health organizations. In addition, she spent three years working for the Office of the Commissioner at the Connecticut Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services. She holds a master’s degree in counseling and community psychology from Marist College and completed a year of post-master’s work in marital/family therapy at Loyola College of Maryland.

Hendrix, who originally joined BHN as vice president of Human Resources in September 2023, has been instrumental in the strategic leadership and growth of the Human Resources department. In her new role, she will continue to lead the development and execution of HR strategies to support BHN’s expanding workforce, while also overseeing recruitment and the continued enhancement of employee engagement and wellness programs.

Hendrix’s diverse professional background includes service in the U.S. Army; roles at the Loomis Communities, American Cancer Society, and Baystate Health; and entrepreneurship as co-owner of Smokey Joe’s Cigar Lounge in Springfield. Hendrix, who holds degrees from the University of Maryland and Cambridge College, was also named a 2020 Women of Impact by BusinessWest, and was also named Springfield’s 2024 Veteran of the Year.
