Benchmark Senior Living to Host CEU Breakfast on Trauma-informed Healthcare
SPRINGFIELD — Benchmark Senior Living will host a CEU breakfast presentation on Wednesday, Oct. 30 from 8:30 to 10 a.m. at La Quinta Inn & Suites, 100 Congress St., Springfield. Caroline Bixby, a social worker with Bill Johnson Staffing and Consulting, will present on “Moving Toward Trauma-informed Care in Healthcare Settings.”
The Department of Public Health is requiring nursing-home staff to become ‘trauma-informed’ beginning in November. What does trauma-informed care really mean? How can staff become trauma-informed when they are working with residents in skilled-nursing settings? Bixby will address upcoming regulations, trauma-assessment tools, intervention strategies, and care planning. Social workers and nurses will receive one CEU for attending.
This free event is open to the public, and breakfast will be provided. Individuals interested in attending must RSVP no later than Friday, Oct. 18 to Allison Baker at (781) 530-7850 or abaker1@benchmarkquality.com.
