Berkshire Medical Center, Fairview Hospital Make CareChex Top 100

PITTSFIELD — Berkshire Health Systems hospitals achieved high rankings nationally and in Massachusetts by CareChex, a national medical-quality rating service. Berkshire Medical Center was ranked among the top 100 in the nation for overall hospital care and, for the third year in a row, placed among the top 10{06cf2b9696b159f874511d23dbc893eb1ac83014175ed30550cfff22781411e5} of hospitals in the nation for both overall hospital care and overall medical care.

BMC was ranked 90th in the U.S. for overall hospital care, in the top 2.6{06cf2b9696b159f874511d23dbc893eb1ac83014175ed30550cfff22781411e5} of hospitals nationwide, and 172nd for overall medical care, in the top 5{06cf2b9696b159f874511d23dbc893eb1ac83014175ed30550cfff22781411e5}, among nearly 4,000 hospitals. BMC was among the top 100 in the nation for cancer care and gastrointestinal hemorrhage care. It also ranked highly in a number of other categories of medical excellence and patient safety.

Fairview Hospital was ranked by CareChex in the top 100 in the nation and first in Massachusetts for patient satisfaction for overall hospital care, overall medical care, and overall surgical care for the third year in a row.

For patient safety, BMC was ranked by CareChex among the top 10{06cf2b9696b159f874511d23dbc893eb1ac83014175ed30550cfff22781411e5} nationally for cancer care, heart-failure treatment, hip-fracture repair, neurological care, stroke care, and trauma care.

Among Massachusetts hospitals, BMC was ranked second for cancer care and in the top 10{06cf2b9696b159f874511d23dbc893eb1ac83014175ed30550cfff22781411e5} in the Commonwealth for medical excellence in overall hospital care, overall medical care, gastrointestinal care, heart failure, hip fracture, neurological care, and spinal surgery. For patient safety, BMC was ranked in the top 10{06cf2b9696b159f874511d23dbc893eb1ac83014175ed30550cfff22781411e5} in Massachusetts for heart failure, hip fracture, neurological care, and stroke care.
