BFMC Main Laboratory Accredited by College of American Pathologists
GREENFIELD — The accreditation committee of the College of American Pathologists (CAP) has awarded accreditation to Baystate Franklin Medical Center’s main Laboratory based on results of a recent on-site inspection as part of CAP’s accreditation programs.
“The inspection process is rigorous, and I am proud of our team of laboratory professionals,” said Dr. Mary Zakhary, medical director of the Baystate Franklin Medical Center Laboratory. “This accreditation is a testament to their dedication to patients, ensuring that they receive the best care possible.”
The federal government recognizes the CAP Laboratory Accreditation Program as being equal to or more stringent than the government’s own inspection program. During the CAP accreditation process, inspectors examine the laboratory’s records and quality control of procedures for the preceding two years. CAP inspectors also examine laboratory staff qualifications, equipment, facilities, safety program and record, and overall management.
