Cardiothoracic Surgeon Dr. Joseph Flack, III, Joins Trinity Health of New England Medical Group
SPRINGFIELD —Joseph E. Flack, III, M.D., has joined the Trinity Health Of New England Medical Group at Mercy Medical Center. He is board-certified in cardiothoracic surgery and has been a member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons for more than 25 years.
Dr. Flack earned his medical degree from New York Medical College in 1980. He trained in Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery at the University of Miami, Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Fla. He then spent two years at the National Institutes of Health, before going to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield in the late 80s. He went on to practice there for 29 years.
During his time at Baystate, he was intimately involved in process improvement, improving outcomes, and optimizing the patient experience. He was also at the center of revolutionary practices, performing more than 400 transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) procedures since its FDA approval in 2011. He has also been involved in the treatment of thoracic aortic aneurysms with minimally invasive endothoracic stent grafts since their FDA approval in 2005.
His clinical interests include valvular, aortic surgery, and multiple arterial coronary artery bypass grafting.
Dr. Flack is now welcoming new patients at 444 Montgomery Street, Chicopee.
