CDH to Present Programs on Stomach Health, Diabetes Management
NORTHAMPTON — What is the link between your gut health and chronic diseases, such as obesity, diabetes, and autoimmune disorders? Learn ways to achieve and maintain a healthy gut for optimal health at a free program, “Healthy Gut, Healthy You,” on Monday, June 8 from 6 to 8 p.m. The free program will be held in Conference Room B at Cooley Dickinson Hospital. The program will also include a demonstration about food fermentation.
In addition, if you have been recently diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, the Step Up Program can help. Through structured exercise, nutrition and meal planning, behavioral support, and medication management, the Step Up program helps participants gain and maintain healthy lifestyles. The next series of classes begins Monday, June 15. Sessions are held weekly from 5:15 to 6:30 p.m. at the YMCA, 286 Prospect St., Northampton.
Program participants are given tools and resources to help them manage their health for lifelong success. If you are 18 years or older, have type 2 diabetes, or are pre-diabetic and interested in Step Up, call the Cooley Dickinson Medical Group Diabetes Center at (413) 586-1601 for more information or to register. The cost is $150, and space is limited. The program is sponsored by the Diabetes Center, the Hampshire Regional YMCA, and a grant from Novo Nordisk.
