Certified Dementia Practitioner Training to Be Held on Nov. 7 at JGS Lifecare Campus

LONGMEADOW — JGS Lifecare, a healthcare system serving seniors and their families and an affiliate of Legacy Lifecare, is partnering with the National Council of Certified Dementia Practitioners (NCCDP) to host an in-person group training session on dementia care. The event will be held on Thursday, Nov. 7 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the JGS Lifecare campus at 770 Converse St. in Longmeadow.

“This training is so important in helping care for people living with dementia and Alzheimer’s,” said Mary-Anne Schelb, regional director of Business Development at JGS Lifecare. “Whether you come yourself or send staff members, the training will provide hands-on solutions to help care for our elder population. This training and certification can change not only the lives of those living with Alzheimer’s and dementia, but the lives of the people taking care of them.”

Topics addressed include ways to achieve higher staff retention rates, marketing and sales opportunities, improving the census, how to alleviate hospital stays, and how to increase the overall quality of care. The full-day event Includes a continental breakfast, boxed lunch, and afternoon snack, all provided by Louis & Clark Pharmacy. The cost of the program is $195 per person; Certified Dementia Specialist certification will be provided at the end of the session.

Additionally, certification to become a certified NCCDP trainer will be available at a significantly discounted rate of $2,500 for a 12-hour session.
