Community Invited to Child Health and Safety Fair

WARE — A number of community-based organizations will join forces for a special Child Health and Safety Fair on Saturday, Oct. 4 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Historic Ware Center Meeting House on Route 9. The free event, which is open to the public, takes place as a kickoff to National Child Safety Month, recognized in October.

The fair will feature a host of health information, interactive exhibits, and other safety demonstrations, games, and much more. A limited number of free bicycle helmets will be available, sponsored by Baystate Mary Lane Hospital and the Mass. Executive Office of Public Safety. Also on hand will be Community Outreach at Baystate Mary Lane Hospital, WIC (Women, Infants & Children), and the Ware Fire Department.

In addition to the Ware Farmers Market, some of the other agencies on hand for the event will be the Quaboag Hills Community Coalition, the Ware Adult Learning Center, the Carson Center at Valley Human Services, Top Floor Learning, Baystate Health Net, Salvation Army, the Ware Family Center, and the Palmer-Monson Family Network.

Free transportation to and from the Fair will be provided by the Carson Center at Valley Human Services. The van, labeled ‘Valley Human Services,’ will leave Veterans Park in Ware every half-hour beginning at 10 a.m., transporting families to the fair until 12 noon.
