Cooley Dickinson Welcomes Cardiac Electrophysiology Physician

NORTHAMPTON — Dr. James B. Kirchhoffer, FACC, has joined Cooley Dickinson Hospital’s medical staff and Northampton Cardiology Associates —a practice that also includes Drs. Thomas Quinn, Norman Perr, Thomas Weil, Steven DiPillo, and Mark Porway.

Kirchhoffer brings expertise in cardiac electrophysiology to Cooley Dickinson Hospital’s new cardiovascular suite, which opened in July. Kirchhoffer describes clinical cardiac electrophysiology (CCEP) as an area of added training within cardiology specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of heart rhythm disturbances.

“The arrival of Dr. Kirchhoffer at CDH has kicked off a new era of heart care at CDH in the treatment and practice of heart-related diseases,” said Glenn Focht, MD, CDH’s vice president of Medical Affairs.

“For Cooley and the community we serve, Dr. Kirchhoffer is a tremendous medical resource and a compassionate provider.”

Kirchhoffer comes to Cooley Dickinson and Northampton Cardi-ology Associates after 18 years at Baystate Medical Center, where he served for eight years as chief of the Cardiology Division. During his tenure as division chief, Kirchhoffer oversaw the development of high-quality programs in interventional cardiology, noninvasive cardiology, heart failure, peripheral vascular disease, prevention and wellness, and electrophysiology. He is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and a member of the Heart Rhythm Society. His career in cardiology spans more than 20 years.
