Dakin Humane Society Offering 50% Adoption Discounts Sept. 6-7

SPRINGFIELD — Dakin Humane Society has partnered with WWLP-TV in promoting NBCUniversal’s nationwide “Clear the Shelters” campaign to drive pet adoptions and donations on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 6-7. According to Meg Talbert, executive director at Dakin Humane Society, adoption fees will be discounted by 50% for all pets available for adoption on those two days.

“We’re happy to partner with WWLP-TV to help clear our shelter and send as many pets into loving homes as possible,” Talbert said. “Our pet population is always at its peak in the summer months, so we want to encourage adoptions for all of our pets, especially those who have been waiting for a while to be someone’s treasured companion.”

People can visit Dakin at 171 Union St. in Springfield either day from 12:30 to 3 p.m. and adopt their pet onsite. The organization recommends visiting its website (click here) prior to arrival, as available pets can be viewed online. The pet listings update constantly as animals become available for adoption or go home to new families.
