Dakin Humane Society Welcomes Acts of Kindness on Giving Tuesday, Dec. 3

SPRINGFIELD — Tuesday, Dec. 3 is Giving Tuesday, described as “a global generosity movement unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and the world.” For the past 12 years, people have marked the occasion by offering donations to nonprofits both local and worldwide.

Dakin Humane Society depends on public funding and is focusing on acts of kindness that improve the lives of pets and people who love them this Giving Tuesday.

“Giving Tuesday offers people the chance to come together in so many ways for the sake of giving back and building a better community,” said Stacey Price, director of Development and Marketing. “For those who wish to make a gift, they can visit our website, dakinhumane.org, to donate online, but there are many other ways people can show support for Dakin’s animals and the programs that serve them. People can offer to foster Dakin pets who may feel stressed in the shelter or have a minor medical concern that would be best tended to in a home environment. We would love to see new people join our dynamic team of volunteers who do a variety of tasks that keep Dakin able to serve so many.

“Dakin has wish lists on both Amazon and Chewy’s websites that feature our most-needed items, and if people would like to select something to have shipped to us, there’s an automatic addressing feature that makes that easy,” Price added. “For those who enjoy seeing our social-media posts featuring animals ready for adoption, even sharing those posts to your own pages helps pets by getting them seen by more people. No matter the act of kindness, we thank you for offering to help on this Giving Tuesday, or any day.”
