Dementia Experience Training to Be Held on July 16 in Agawam
AGAWAM — More than 120,000 people in Massachusetts are living with Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of dementia. Armbrook Village’s Dementia Experience uses sensory modifications and role-playing activities to depict real situations that a person living with mild cognitive impairment or dementia would face.
Getting dressed, taking daily medications, and preparing a meal are all simple activities that are severely thwarted by cognitive disability. The Dementia Experience thrusts participants into the daily life of someone with dementia by simulating the physical ailments afflicting many seniors and creating the frustration, confusion, and anxiety that accompanies cognitive impairment.
A Dementia Experience training session will be held on Monday, July 16 at 4:30 p.m. at Agawam HealthCare, 1200 Suffield St., Agawam. Participants will be eligible for 2.5 CEO credits. To RSVP, contact Katie Lee at katie.lee@nextstephc.com or (413) 726-1703.
