Elms Offers B.S.W. Degree Completion Program on ACC Campus
ENFIELD — Classes begin on August 26 at Asnuntuck’s campus for the first cohort of students to participate in an Elms College Bachelor’s of Social Work completion program.
Officials from Asnuntuck Community College and Elms College met in January of this year to sign formal articulation agreements for the Elms College Bachelor of Science Degree Completion Program in Social Work. The agreements included Liberal Arts at ACC and Social Work at Elms; Early Childhood Education at ACC and Social Work at Elms, Criminal Justice at ACC and Social Work at Elms; General Studies at ACC and Social Work at Elms and Human Services at ACC and Social Work at Elms.
This program is designed for students who are working, and have already earned an associate’s degree. Students can complete the program in just 20 months, by taking part in 10, eight-week sessions held each Saturday. The classes will run from 8 a.m. to noon and 12:30-4:30 p.m. on the Saturdays.
James Lombella, President of Asnuntuck Community College added, “This is a wonderful pathway for some of our students to continue their educational journey. We are honored to partner with Elms to create pathways for our students to continue on their educational journey after graduating from Asnuntuck.”
Elms College had applied to the Connecticut Office of Higher Education and received approval to offer the program onsite at Asnuntuck Community College. Upon completion of the program, students will be prepared to take the state social work licensing exam at the Licensed Social Work level. In completing this degree, students will gain advanced standing for many social work graduate programs.
