Endocrinologist to Discuss Thyroid Disorders on June 17
WARE — Area women are invited to join Baystate Health’s Spirit of Women Program for a lecture about thyroid disorders. The free program, presented by Dr. Rene Umanzor, endocrinologist at both Baystate Wing Hospital and Baystate Mary Lane Hospital, will be held Wednesday, June 17, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the Main Conference Room located on the second floor of Baystate Mary Lane Hospital.
“Lethargy, slower mental processes, depression, reduced heart rate, increased sensitivity to cold, and tingling or numbness in the hands could be signs that your thyroid is not working properly,” said Tracy Whitley, manager of Loyalty Programs and the Spirit of Women Program. “Dr. Umanzor will discuss how the thyroid works, the medical tests that doctors use in diagnosing thyroid conditions, as well as common thyroid conditions women can encounter and why.”
Spirit of Women is a free loyalty program that integrates clinical programs and services through consumer education and health and wellness activities across Baystate Health.
